Body camera footage released by Tulsa Police captures the moment John Terry Chatman Jr., 34 shooting at police in a QuikTrip parking lot last Tuesday. Chatman was shot during the altercation. Chatman possessed a 32 caliber revolver and ammunition after prior felony convictions, attempted to kill a Tulsa police officer, and carried and discharged a firearm during a crime of violence. federal grand jury returned an indictment against John Terry Chatman, Jr., 34, of Tulsa, charging him with Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition, Obstruction of Justice by Attempting to Kill a Witness, and Carrying, Using, and Discharging a Firearm During and in Relation to a Crime of Violence.

Bodycam Shows Seattle Police Officers Shooting Drug Suspect

Seattle police and King County Sheriff’s deputies shot and wounded a suspect in a narcotics investigation Wednesday afternoon in Belltown. Officers and deputies were conducting a narcotics operation near 3rd Avenue and Blanchard Street around 2:45 PM in response to community complaints about drug dealing in the area. During the operation, police attempted to arrest a suspect in a vehicle at 3rd Avenue and Blanchard. When police approached the vehicle, officers reported seeing a gun. SPD officers and King County Sheriff’s Deputies opened fire on the 25-year-old suspect, who was struck and wounded.

Medics transported the man to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. In accordance with Initiative 940, the South King County Valley Investigative Unit will conduct an independent investigation into the use of force during the incident. SPD detectives will also continue a separate criminal investigation of the suspect. Police are still interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence in the case. This remains an active and on-going investigation. Information presented here is preliminary and subject to change as the investigation proceeds.

Ohio shooting: Columbus police kill black teenage girl

A police officer in the US state of Ohio has shot dead a 16-year-old black girl while responding to an emergency call over an attempted stabbing.

The teenager involved in the incident, in the state capital Columbus, has been identified as Ma’Khia Bryant.

Columbus police have produced bodycam footage which appears to show the girl attacking others with a knife before being shot.

An inquiry is under way, with officials urging local residents to remain calm.

The officer involved has been placed on paid administrative leave.

Police were called to an address in a south-eastern area of Columbus at about 16:45 local time (20:45 GMT) on Tuesday, the Columbus Dispatch newspaper reported.

Bodycam footage provided by the police shows an altercation with a group of individuals outside a house before one of them — said to be Ma’Khia Bryant — appears to lunge at another member of the group with a knife in hand.

A police officer then approaches the group in the driveway and shouts «get down» before firing several shots, fatally injuring the girl.

The officer is heard saying in the footage: «She had a knife, she just went at her.» A bystander shouts that she was just a child.

Officials have said the officer opened fire in order to save the life of one of the girls. A woman identified in local media as Ms Bryant’s aunt said her niece was simply defending herself after being attacked.

Hazel Bryant was quoted by local TV station WSYX-TV as saying: «She was a good kid. Yeah, she had issues, but that’s OK. She didn’t deserve to die like a dog on the street.»

Speaking to local broadcaster WBNS-TV, Ma’Khia Bryant’s mother, Paula Bryant, said she was «hurt» by what had happened and that her daughter was a «loving girl».

«This shouldn’t have happened,» she said, adding: «I want answers.»

Paula Bryant said her daughter, who had been staying at a foster home, was «looking forward to coming home».

At a news conference, the interim chief of Columbus Police, Mike Woods, said an inquiry was being conducted by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

«At the conclusion of that investigation, the divisional police will conduct an administrative review of the actions of this officer and all officers at scene,» he said. «This is a tragic incident for all involved, but especially for the family of the female.»

Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther described it as «horrible, heart-breaking» and a «tragic day in the city».

«We know, based on this footage, the officer took action to protect another young girl in our community — but a family is grieving tonight.»

The White House linked the shooting — which happened about an hour before former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was convicted of murder in the May 2020 death of George Floyd — to «systemic racism».

Press Secretary Jen Psaki told a news conference on Wednesday: «Her death came, as you noted, just as America was hopeful of a step forward after the traumatic and exhausting trial of Derek Chauvin and the verdict that was reached.

«So our focus is on working to address systemic racism and implicit bias head-on and, of course, to passing laws and legislation that will put much-needed reforms into place in police departments around the country.»

Chauvin, 45, was filmed kneeling on Mr Floyd’s neck for more than nine minutes during his arrest last May.

The widely watched footage sparked worldwide protests against racism and excessive use of force by police.

Protesters gathered in Columbus on Wednesday afternoon near the home where the girl’s shooting took place.

Meanwhile, NBA megastar LeBron James encountered a fierce backlash after posting a tweet targeting one of the officers involved.

«YOU’RE NEXT #ACCOUNTABILITY,» the basketball player wrote with an hourglass emoji over a photo of one of the white policemen at the scene of the teen’s shooting.

Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas tweeted: «Lebron [sic] James is inciting violence against an Ohio police officer. This is disgraceful and dangerous. Is the NBA okay with this? Is Twitter?»

The Los AngelesВ Lakers legend deleted the tweet and said he had sent it out of «anger».

Bodycam Captures Moment Suspect Shoots At LMPD Officer From Close Range

Louisville, Kentucky — On today’s date May 19th at approximately 1:40 a.m. Officer Patrick Dahlgren from the seventh patrol division, observed an occupied vehicle sitting on the access road of the 6900 block of Bardstown Road in a dark area. Officer Dahlgren approached the vehicle and detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car and was in plain sight inside the car. Officer Dahlgren requested the occupant, Decedric Binford to exit the vehicle. Officer Dahlgren conducted the pat down for weapons and spoke to Binford as he waited for his backup. At one point Binford asked to get something out of his car and began going through a few items. When the backup officer Seventh Division patrol, officer Trevor Troutman arrived, Binford began digging deeper into his vehicle. Officer Dahlgren ordered Binford to stop reaching and tried to pull him out of the car.

A short struggle ensued and Binford fired a handgun he had retreat from his vehicle at Officer Dahlgren from very close range. He struck Officer Dahlgren in the right shoulder. At this time, Binford fled from officers. While he was fleeing He fired one additional round at the officers, Officer Dahlgren and Officer Troutman each shot four times at Binford striking him once. Binford continued to flee on foot but he fell down and was taken into custody by responding officers. Bidford’s handgun was recovered at the location where he was arrested. Binford was administered first aid and transported to the University of Louisville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Officer Dahlgren was also treated for a graze wound on his shoulder and is expected to fully recover. Binford has been charged with attempted murder of a police officer, fleeing and evading in the first degree and trafficking marijuana.
