Умилительная комедия. На мой взгляд. Wormverse. Тейлор получила иную силу. Связанную с Губителями. мир не был к этому готов. Впрочем, ещё выяснится что этот мир отличается от канона. Information

    • Uppsala Grimdark is a blog where our 40K campaign is chronicled in short-story format with a dramatic storyline, interesting protagonists and tons of retouched images illustrating the writing. We are about 5 authors that collaborate on the writing itself.
    • A website created by a author who went on to become a Ascended Fan, no longer updated (domain has expired and the link is to an archive) but the stories are well worth reading. I particularly recommend The Killing and Please don’t feed the Warboss.

    • The largest collection of Warhammer fanfiction in the net, some of which is rather good. I recommend the works of Chun, Conquering Light, Feil, Firefox, Launcifer, Nextdoor_Warlord and Squiggle.
      • With the forums gone as of the latest version of the Black Library site, most of the stories and writers appear to have moved to the Black Library Bolthole

    • A set of forums dedicated to the spinoff of Warhammer 40K, Inquisitor. Has a large role-playing section, where posters detail the efforts of the Emperor’s Holy Inquisition, their antagonists, or sometimes just more «normal» people in the Grim Dark Millenium. Particularly worthy of note is the work Aurea Mediocritas
    • Recommended by Skritz, Eversor
    • Synopsis A Mirror Universe version of the Horus Heresy, with Rogal Dorn as the Big Bad (instead of Horus). Composed of multiple articles, and updated from time to time. Well written and worth reading.
    • Comments: Nurgle-dedicated Blood Angels (diseased and very vampire-ish), Khornate Space Wolves and World Eaters who got over their anger issues!
      • As different as it is, some things just do not change in this version of the Heresy. Despite being on the side of the angels relatively speaking, Abbadon still hates Horus, Ahriman still is trying to find his way to the Black Library, and so on. Unlike the original Heresy, the Imperium now has completely different flavors of traitor legions to deal with (the Tzeentchian Raven Guard are quite different than the original Thousand Sons, for example).

    • Synopsis A series of 40k short stories all set in the same universe. Common characters include Corsair Prince Eorlianeth Ansgar of Crescent Wings, Eldar Ranger Ellarian and Rogue Trader Merelen Cyierk.
    • Comments: SpartAl412 has created a unique Warhammer 40k universe which is Lighter and Softer and has some Cyberpunk influence. The most interesting character in these stories is Corsair Prince Eorlianeth Ansgar, a Reasonable Authority Figure Eldar who has made allies with the Tau, xeno-friendly humans and other aliens within his growing Empire.

Since by this point there’s no way to stop it, a group of Dark Age humanity hides in a pocket universe for the next several thousand years while they try to rebuild. Now, this remnant of humanity’s greatest heights has emerged into the modern 40k setting. To quote the author: «Oh Eldar, we’re baaaack. NOS AUTEM TENEBRAS!«

Ilmaea: A Novel of the Dark Eldar by Veriform

    • Status: Complete
    • Synopsis: A crafty, vicious Sybarite, Suth Anax, takes advantage of her mistress’s death by assuming her identity with the aid of an enigmatic haemonculus. Elevated suddenly to the pinnacle of Dark Eldar society, Suth performs a high-wire act above the knives of her enemies, her allies, and her underlings, because in Commorragh there’s no rest for the wicked and no end to the race.

Rise of the Tau by Revenant

    • Recommended by Commisar 92, Baron Praxis
    • Status: Complete
    • Synopsis: A few hundred years after the current Warhammer 40K setting, the Tau Empire has come to dominate the Galaxy. They have shattered the Tyrannids, exterminated the orks, are closing the Eye of Terror, and are driving the Imperium back to Earth. Of course, not without a little help from a VERY old benefactor, the Void Dragon. This story is quite well written, and it ties up very nicely in the end, with many named character in Warhammer 40K lore getting a nice sendoff. The battle scenes are quite well done as well.
    • Now with its own TV Tropes page.

The Shape of the Nightmare to Come by LordLucan

    • Recommended by Whakamol, Extraintrovert, Icarael, Kurze Haunter, Baron Praxis
    • Status: Complete
    • Synopsis: What’s worse than Warhammer 40k? Warhammer 50k. The God Emperor has perished, the Imperium is shattered, the Necrons reawaken, Chaos reigns supreme, and that’s just the beginning.
    • Comments: Posted on a forum thread, so there is discussion between posts, but definitely worth a read. There aren’t tremendous amounts of actual ‘stories’, but there is loads of detailed background fluff, which can make for hours of reading. The sheer amount of despair and horror can be unnerving at times, and the often Lovecraftian style of writing amplifies these elements. Basically this is to 40k as 40k is to Star Wars or Star Trek. Now has its own trope page.
      • Continued in The Age of Dusk [60K], now also with its own trope page.

    • Synopsis: Michael, a guy who plays 40k but is not a hardcore fan, suddenly finds a bunch of miniatures battling each other (they don’t seem to be specifically his miniatures), and Hilarity Ensues.
    • Comments: This is a really interesting read. It starts out a little disjointed, but the writer quickly warms up, grows his beard and it evolves from a rather disjointed gag series into a really good read by chapter 8 or so. I’d recommend a rewrite for the first few chapters (which are funny, but a little off) but from then on it gets into something awesome. Also, from what I’ve seen in the reviews, a lot of people like this one. The Omake Collections are related and are as awesome as oneshots go.

    The Misfits by davidnm2007

    • Recommended by Ugolino, Gentlemens Dame 883, USA Bobcat
    • Status: Dead (last update January 2012)
    • Synopsis: (Taken from the Pit) Alastar, Nasty and Patreus are training to be Space Marines — or trying to, anyway. Ever get bored of Chapter-zombie, personality-free, lemming-like marines? This is my attempt to avoid those tedious stereotypes. Now has its own page.
    • Comments: A fun read, in-character, and with great characters. Unfortunately, It’s a Deadfic. One troper found the writer’s take on the Ultramarines problematic, but it’s a good read regardless of your feelings on that chapter.
      • Crull: While technically written well, the author’s problems with the Ultramarine’s characterization detract from the whole fic for me.
      • Cosmic-Behemoth: Just bloody cool in my opinion, all three of the title characters are fleshed out, interesting characters, Kodos is a gas to listen to; and I dare say there isn’t so much as a whiff of chapter zombies, cardboard characters, or a Mary Sue in the least. Just a couple of Deus Ex Machinas, but the badassery surrounding them pretty well overshadows it.
      • USA Bobcat: Have followed this since infancy, and it has never stopped delighting me. The fact that the protagonist trio are so different is very intriguing, and even lampshaded in the story. Each of them bring a different POV to the tale, and character development is actually present. As well, the presence of a well-done Chaos Marine antagonist is also a boon, and the author makes it hard not to root for Chaos, perhaps a tad too much. The Space Wolves are amazing and hilarious, every appearance of theirs making you want to read more. The Ultramarines are portrayed a little dickishly, but to be fair, they demanded and received their own pocket kingdom. That’s bound to have affected their judgment more than a little, and there are signs that even the Ultramarine jerks are good guys being manipulated, whenever they interact with the Storm Ravens. All in all, a wonderful story, I cannot recommend a better one.

Time of Ending: The 40k Finale by Nicholasakira

    • Recommended by Augustine
    • Status: Complete
    • Synopsis: This story is what happens when you skip ahead 3,000 years from the current time. The author’s description says it best «13000 years after Horus, the Imperium is at its breaking point. The Space Marines are dying off and Chaos is ready to claim the galaxy. This is the story of the epic conclusion of the Imperium’s wars for survival.» Every single race is accounted for and the author switches between them throughout the story.
    • Comments: This story has not gotten the respect I feel that it deserves. The author mainly works with OCs due to the time period being changed. But the majority of the characters we know and love will make an appearance one way or another. However, there are some plot points that you may not be comfortable with, such as the Tyranids being the remainder of the Enslavers given physical form and the fate of the Unknown Primarchs . Overall, the author gives a well-done conclusion to the entire series, giving a definite ending to every race involved.
      • It was also once illegally published on Amazon.com because some bastard stole it. It’s gone now.

Sons of the Fire by Colonel Mustard and Gaius Marius

    • Synopsis: On the Eastern fringe, a planetary governor is about to commit a great heresy; leading his planet into the alien embrace of the hated Empire of the Tau. The Imperium cannot allow this to happen and send in two companies of Astartes to enact a great cull. One is from the unchallengeable tank masters of the Sons of Thunder, the other from the brutal Salamander descendants called the Fire Beasts. All of them are Sons of Vulkan but by the time this war is over, they will be at each other’s throats.

Return of the Lost Primarch by drakensis

    • Recommended by: The Wandering Monster
    • Status: Complete
    • Synopsis: What if the swarming Tyranid invasions were nothing but rag tag fleets? What if someone was chasing them?
    • Comments: A darkly humorous short one-shot told from the perspective of one of the two Unknown Primarchs.

    Unusual Alliances by steinerdavion2183

    • Recommended by: Arjac
    • Status: Dead (last update January 2016)
    • Synopsis: By choosing to save an Eldar Crop-production world (proper term?) from the Eldar’s Dark Kin, an Ultramarine Captain sets of a domino effect within the entirety of the 40K universe.
    • Comments: Raw writing is competent, and raw plotting is too. The author rejects the canonical universe in his second chapters’ reply to reviews, though, perhaps to attempt to cover up for his Theme Park Version of 40k, and the story never quite recovers from this as a work of 40k fiction though it’s certainly a decent story for. something else?

Chronicles of the Burger Marines by purplefishman

    • Recommended by: Mr Terrorist, Baron Praxis
    • Status: Dead; last update September 2012
    • Synopsis: The Burger Marines. One of the strangest chapters of the Imperium. Dedicated to feed all the actors of the WH40K universe. There are thousands of strange stories that take place in their restaurants. Here are some of them.
    • Comments: A funny fic that focuses on the Burger Marines, a chapter dedicated to conquering their allies and enemies appetite by serving them the best fast food in the galaxy. Very hilarious on how the Burger Marines handle various customers who come to their restaurant and the customers themselves over food.
    • Recommended by: Dellanotte
    • Status: Dead (last update December 2013)
    • Synopsis: In the grimdark nightmare of the far future, there is only peace. SAY WHAT?

Thus we get a Brother-Captain, Traitor Marine, Eldar, Dark Eldar, Ork, Fire Warrior, and Necron Soldier. as housemates. Before the ImperialGuardsman gets them as his housing assignment. HereticalHilarity Ensues. If you can suspend your disbelief by chapter 5 and ignore a lack of apostrophes, a plot may actually be found amongst the ensuing World Gone Mad and off-the-wall humor currently into its 45th chapter. • Comments: I like this fic. It feels similar to a Dark Heresy campaign journal. Sometimes the writing can be a bit juvenile and there were some plot twists I didn’t like, but in general I felt that the writing is decent, the characters are interesting and the writer has clearly put a tremendous amount of work into writing it.

    • Synopsis: Inquisitor Nicomedo of the Ordo Xenos follows an Eldar Farseer to a near lifeless world. Already Necrons are slowly awakening from their tombs, and the Inquisitor must find out how to deal with this new threat, without losing his prey forever. An unlikely ally emerges, an old friend comes to his aid and the deathless march.
    • Comments: This story takes some time to introduce all the characters and properly get going, but when it comes together it’s an enjoyable tale of treachery, revenge and the need to prevent the Necrons from awakening and becoming a terrible threat to both the Imperium and the Eldar, with plenty of badass action scenes along the way. The author is from Germany and English is not her first language, not that you’re likely to notice much given the quality of her writing. I recommend her other stories as well.

    • Synopsis: In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war. Nevertheless, Evarvae Uldanthyr hopes to find a better way, to enable her people to survive the 41st millennium and live in peace with mankind. Unfortunately for her, hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
    • Comments: This story starts off as a lighthearted deconstructive parody and gradually takes on a more serious tone. Basically, Evarvae is a young idealist who wants to be a messianic hero and save everybody. In a more lighthearted setting she might actually be successful. However, this is Warhammer 40K.

    • Synopsis: A dialogue between an Inquisitor and a Priestess of Chaos over the nature of Chaos and the true history of the Horus Heresy.
    • Comments: What’s interesting is that we get to see things from the perspective of a Chaos-worshiper who is neither a psychopath nor a raving lunatic, and we get a very interesting revisionist take on the history of the Imperium and the Horus Heresy. At the same time, we are left wondering whether this is the truth, or a falsehood that she sincerely believes, or a lie that she is spinning to seduce the Inquisitor. There are enough hints in the text that it really could go any way.

    Imperium Ascendant by Sulemain

    • Recommended by Milarqui
    • Synopsis: what if the Emperor had more empathy? What if he ensured his sons had no problems when they came to work with him? In short, what if the Emperor’s most assholish actions never took place? The result: awesomeness as the Eighteen Primarchs continue to kick ass and take names, since the Horus Heresy never took place.
    • Comments: a very entertaining story where the Emperor’s compassion (brought on by a discussion with Malcador the Sigillite shortly before the Crusade begins) towards his children becomes the key to secure the universe and ensure that the Imperium does not fall to Chaos. Highlights include an attack on Commorragh (the Dark Elves’ only city), a duel between brothers and even a couple of A Song of Ice and Fire cameos (because Planetos turns out to be part of the WH40k ‘verse). The only bad thing is that it is Dead, but Sulemain has promised to attempt a second run soon. You also need an Alternate History account to access it.

Notable for some interesting takes on canon material (including a rational Mechanicum) and a great deal of world building (including a Adventure-Friendly World homeworld with a Dungeon-Based Economy)which makes it a worthwhile read.

With no way home and an entire sectors worth of refugees to care for, the Imperial forces must now explore and conquer this new galaxy and create a new home for themselves, at the expense of its native inhabitants. But the natives are not going to go down without a fight and might just surprise the Imperials in more ways than one.
    • Comments: A fairly new story but one with more than 18 episodes, and while its based on a overdone crossover between 40K and Star Wars, its by far the most well made, this story does not favor one franchise over another something that is often seen too many times in crossovers. Both sides were written in respect to both their advantages and disadvantages over each other, and it is made clear that despite one franchise being superior over another, an actual well written crossover story does not mean the story is a complete power trip for one franchise over another. The writer clearly has done his homework in both franchises, and shows a deep knowledge in both universes and has crafted clear and well connected arguments that has thus far been able to bind both universe together seamlessly. By far the best 40K/Star Wars crossover work ever made. So far its an audiobook with amazing sound effects and voice acting that you might have thought this was an official work. Hopefully he would uploaded his work onto fanfiction.net or spacebattles.com as well and gain more viewers, and could use a proper title as well.

    • Comments Following a diverse cast of characters from both sides of the crossover, this story avoids some of the common problems of crossovers I’ve seen. Neither side is overpowered and the characters never use meta knowledge of the setting to counter each other, also noted for not having the UNSC characters become friends with anyone in 40k, and not using the setup as an excuse to have Spartans fight Space Marines. The story is also available on SpaceBattles where it updates more frequently, in small chunks rather than the massive 10-20,000 word chapters the author uploads to FF.net.

    • Synopsis: Just after Shepard comes back from Project Overlord, days after regaining life, EDI detects a signal from the nearby planet Aite. When Shepard investigates, she finds a very confused Imperial GuardStormtrooper and an EldarFarseer.
    • Comments: I found this a quite interesting crossover. Captain Gallardi (the Stormtrooper) incorporates Mass Effect technology in his gear, such as Mass Effect style armor, but also keeps his hotshot lasgun, which bypasses kinetic barriers. The technology issue gets taken care of quickly, but I found that everyone was in character, Gallardi having been part of an Inquisitor’s retinue and thus slightly more easy with Xenos. He still refuses to allow Mordin to inspect his weapons or armor, though he eventually starts warming up, he has not yet lost his xenophobia entirely. Shepard is female, and follows most of the Fanon Fem Shep ways, but is very much a character, not an insert or a Mary Sue. Maeteris (the Farseer) has not joined the team on a ground mission yet, and focuses more on seeing the future, though in typical Eldar fashion, will hint and nudge Shepard, but never tell her outright.
      • In addition, the author did a good job showing the major ideological clash between the extremely xenophobic Imperium of Man, which have a ‘exterminate on sight’policy when it comes to aliens, verse the much more tolerant and open-minded Systems Alliance, which was not only willing to peacefully co-exist with aliens by being part of the Citadel Council, but also allow its citizens to sleep with them. Due to Gallardi and Maeteris being Fish out of Temporal Water, they both find a universe in which everyone is not engaged in a millennium old Forever War and the limited Warp presence to be very strange and outright surreal. This became a major point of conflict between Gallardi and Shepard which almost resulted in violence, since the latter romanced Liara, and the former being unable to overcome his lifetime of xenophobic indoctrination despite his best efforts.

    • Comments:
      • Tacitus: I could throw around words like Crazy Is Cool or Crack Fic, but that wouldn’t tell the whole story. It’s a patently ridiculous premise that nevertheless works marvelously, with the comedic and humanizing moments of Eva blunting the edge of 40ks grimdark, while 40ks theme of courage in the face of inhuman horror lets the Eva cast endure its ordained trials. It has acts of badassitude to make Kaminaweep with pride, unexpected hilarity that may eject you from your chair, times of horror when you realize the Eva verse is getting worse, and even some unexpectedly touching moments. Through it all the author displays an impressive understanding of and affection for the canon and themes of both ‘verses, but without taking either too seriously. Caveats would be that the increasing amount of trope references and gratuitous shot-outs may be too distracting for some readers’ tastes, and of course that the ‘fic isn’t finished yet.

Equal moments depressing as characters become more and more jaded over the course of the fic, and awesome in the way that only 40K can be. English is not the authors first language, so it sometimes reads a little oddly, but it doesn’t detract from the fic.

He’d end up finding that answer in the grim, dark future with a certain Blood God willing to have an arm wrestling contest with him. Unfortunately for Khorne, Boyd’s soul proves to be more trouble than he’s worth.
    • Comments: Scamming Cthulhu at it’s finest. The jokes are great, the characterization is spot-on, and the whole fanfic is one giant love letter to both franchises as well as a clear nod to Creed. It’s a damn shame the author is barely known, he’s very creative, so I put in a recommendation for him. A great, funny and even heartwarming one-shot if you seek to escape the grimdark nature of Warhammer 40K.

    • Comments: The story is set right after the events of Eternal (and ignores the events of The Ancient Gods) on the Doom side and before the Fall of Cadia on the 40K side. Despite the slow pacing at times, the action is amazing, and the interaction between Imperial forces and the Slayer (and allies) is great.

    • Comments: In this AU crossover fanfic with Warhammer Fantasy set during the Great Crusades, Sigmar is the Second Primarch in this universe but is considered a failure by almost everyone in the Imperium leadership due to his so call failure of not uniting his home planet under his rule and failing to spread the Imperial Truth to the populace. With the exception of Horus and Leman, the other Primarchs and their Legion see Sigmar as an embarrassment. When an Imperial Survey group which includes a detachment of Space Marines from the Space Wolves, Thousand Sons and Dark Angels heads to Sigmar’s home planet to learn more about his world, the Survey group would soon learn Sigmar may not be the failure they they think he is and his world much more dangerous than they thought.

    • Synopsis: Various Space Marine chapters formed in the unholy, all-consuming black void that is 4chan. Includes the ever popular Angry Marines.
    • Comments: ALWAYS ANGRY! ALL THE TIME!
      • Some of the more «serious» fan chapters like the Emperor’s Nightmare have some pretty awesome writings behind them as well.
      • Generally, there are two types of marine chapters on 1d4chan: the first is the more «Silly» which are usually one chapter with a single quality taken to ridiculous extremes, such as the Angry Marines (their trait being anger) or the Reasonable Marines (their trait being that they’re actually sane in the 40k universe). The other types are the «Serious» chapters, which use actual gameplay rules to create chapters that are more compliant with the universe as a whole, and can lead in interesting directions. The Desert Fangs (serious counterpart to the Angry Marines) and the Knights Inductor (counterpart to the Reasonable Marines) are quite well thought out and have fascinating stories written about them.

(That’s no exaggeration: at one point he manages to defeat a Chaos Space Marine that had managed to take down an entire company of Space Wolves.)

    • Comments: Utterly hilarious, though it does require a working knowledge of both the 40k and MTV Animation-verses to really appreciate. The characterizations are spot-on almost to a fault (Jane’s libido does veer uncomfortably close to OOC (and Fluff-inaccuracy) once or twice, but it does get an amusing justification towards the end).

      • Absolutely seconded. Not for the easily offended, as it crosses the lineso many times that it’s starting to look doubtful whether the line existed at all. Abaddon and co. have no concept of what a Moral Event Horizon even is, but then again, they’re Chaos marines. • Comments: One of those stories that works best when you don’t take it all that seriously, but the occasions when it does get into genuine character bits, it handles them surprisingly well. Goto look competent, the sex scenes are full of Mills and Boon Prose making it impossible to derive arousal from any of it, and the amount of references to internet memes, bad jokes, and excessive swearing that’s always done at the wrong time, make it unintentionally (or perhaps intentionally, this is from 4chan) hilarious.
