Interior.

The interior reinterprets modern luxury and as such forms the benchmark in the segment in terms of high-class appeal. With the facelift, new colours, materials and trim elements refine the sporty, stylish atmosphere.

Cockpit and steering wheel.

The multifunction steering wheel is available in two versions and has been completely revised. Its distinctive spoke design conveys an even more sporty character. In addition, its operation of Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC and the Touch Control buttons for controlling the instrument cluster and the multimedia system as well as the acoustic input feedback send a clear signal pointing to the future.

Centre console.

The user operates the telematics functions using single-finger and multi-finger gestures, so-called multi-touch control, on the multifunction touchpad on the centre console. It serves as an alternative to voice control and in addition offers the possibility to enter letters, numbers or special characters manually. The touchpad surface not only provides a clear haptic, but also an acoustic feedback.

ENERGIZING comfort control.

ENERGIZING comfort control networks various comfort systems in the vehicle, and uses musical and lighting moods for a wide range of feel-good programmes. The ENERGIZING COACH recommends programmes according to the situation. To do this, it firstly analyses the current journey and vehicle data. However, if it is networked with currently available Garmin® wearables, it can also take the driver’s present state into account.

Interior lighting.

More light, more atmosphere, better orientation: the Interior Light package provides more comprehensive direct and indirect illumination. The additional light sources create a pleasant atmosphere and make operation easier.

The infotainment system MBUX – Mercedes-Benz User Experience – ushered in a new era in Mercedes me connectivity. A unique feature of this system is the ability to learn thanks to artificial intelligence. MBUX is customisable and adapts to the user. “Hey Mercedes” is the keyword for the voice control function. The optional MBUX Interior Assistant recognises hand and arm gestures, making operation even easier.

Load compartment.

When it comes to stowage volume, the GLC takes the top spot among the key competitors with 44.3 litres. The luggage compartment is also one of the most spacious in the segment. The rear seat backrests fold in the ratio 40/20/40. The centre rear seat backrest can be folded down either on its own or together with the left-hand backrest. For easier loading and unloading, the boot sill can be lowered by 40 millimetres when the vehicle is fitted with AIR BODY CONTROL.

Suspension.

With the model update, the GLC is for the first time equipped with the DYNAMIC BODY CONTROL suspension with infinitely adjustable dampers for the front and rear axle. Depending on the driving situation, speed and condition of the road, the damping is controlled individually for each wheel in interaction with the engine, transmission and steering characteristics. In addition, the suspension can be combined with a sport steering system with a more direct steering ratio.

AIR BODY CONTROL.

The AIR BODY CONTROL air suspension can be chosen for even more comfort and variability. In combination with the standard DYNAMIC SELECT, this also makes it possible to lower or raise the vehicle level by 15 millimetres – and by as much as 100 millimetres with the optional Off-Road Engineering package.

Environment.

Pioneering drive concepts, sophisticated aerodynamics and lightweight construction – a host of measures contributes to effectively reducing fuel consumption and emissions. With the facelift, other improvements have also found their way in.

Safety.

The GLC is one of the safest vehicles in the mid-size SUV segment. It comes with comprehensive safety equipment associated with all four phases of the integral safety concept from Mercedes-Benz, the components of which build on each other. Numerous assistance systems have been coordinated in terms of function and packaged under the name Intelligent Drive. This concept brings Mercedes-Benz a major step closer to its vision of accident-free driving.

MULTIBEAM LED headlamps.

For your perfect vision: the adaptive MULTIBEAM LED headlamps with individually controllable LEDs react to the traffic situation. Partial main beam omits other road users without dazzling them. ULTRA RANGE Highbeam increases the range to the permitted maximum. The cornering light and active light functions also illuminate the field of vision to optimum effect.

Active Brake Assist.

The Active Brake Assist in the Driving Assistance package includes the turning-off function, which comes into play when the driver intends to turn off across the oncoming lane: if there is a risk of collision with oncoming traffic, the GLC can brake autonomously. Braking intervention takes place when the driver activates the turn signal indicator signalling an intention to turn off, and the vehicle can be braked to a standstill before passing over the lane marking. If not, no braking takes place, so as to enable the GLC to leave the oncoming lane swiftly. Oncoming vehicles are detected via an intelligent fusion of radar and camera signals.

Lane Tracking package.

This package combines the functions and advantages of two driving assistance systems: Active Lane Keeping Assist brings you back into lane if you unintentionally leave the marked roadway. Blind Spot Assist keeps a watchful eye out for parallel traffic for you while driving and at the end of your journey.

Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC.

When Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC with route-based speed adaptation is activated, the new GLC is able to recognise and respond to traffic jams or slow-moving traffic with the help of information from LiveTraffic before the driver becomes aware of this traffic obstruction. When a traffic jam is detected (and if the driver does not choose a different response), DISTRONIC reduces the speed to around 100 km/h as a precaution. This is complemented by an improved Active Lane Keeping Assist as well as by additional functions of Active Emergency Stop Assist.
